BEST BISCUITS EVER 
2 c. sifted all purpose flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 to 1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
2 tsp. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2/3 c. milk

Sift together flour, baking powder, salt, cream of tartar and sugar. Cut in shortening until crumbs. Add milk all at once and stir with a fork until in a ball. Turn out on lightly floured surface and knead gently for 1/2 minutes. Roll out 1/2 inch thick and cut. Bake on an ungreased sheet at 450 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Perfect for shortcake and chicken. 10-12 flaky biscuits.
