2 c. flour 2 tbsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tbsp. butter or shortening 1/4 tsp. baking soda 1 c. plus 2 tbsp. buttermilk 1/2 c. oil Combine flour, baking powder and salt in bowl. Work in butter or shortening with fingers. Combine baking soda and buttermilk. Stir into flour mixture with fork thoroughly. Place dough on floured surface and sprinkle with more flour. It's important not to overwork. Roll or pat out dough to 1 inch thickness. Cut with 2 inch diameter. Dip biscuits in oil covering them with oil and immediately place on greased baking sheet with all biscuits touching. Bake in preheated 500 degree oven 8 to 10 minutes until lightly browned. |
