HUSBAND'S DELIGHT | |
1 lb. ground round 1 garlic bud 1 tsp. sugar 1/4 tsp. pepper 2 (7 1/2 oz.) cans tomato sauce 1 tsp. salt 1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese 1 c. sharp grated cheese 1 c. commercial sour cream and chives 5 scallions or green onions 1 (8 oz.) pkg. sm. fine noodles Cook noodles as directed on package; rinse and drain noodles. In a large skillet, brown ground chuck and pour off any excess fat, add garlic, pepper, sugar, salt and tomato sauce. Cover and simmer 15 minutes. Stir scallions or onions with cream cheese and sour cream. Alternate layers of noodles, meat mixture, sour cream and cream cheese and grated cheese in ungreased 1 1/2 quart casserole dish. Ground chuck and cheese flavors blend the longer it sets. Dish may be prepared a day in advance or eight hours before served. Heat uncovered until cheeses melt. |
