TEXAS CHILI | |
2 lbs. ground beef (coarse ground if possible) 2 med. onions, chopped 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce 16 oz. water 3 tbsp. chili powder 1 tbsp. garlic powder 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. red pepper 1/2 tsp. paprika 1/2 tsp. oregano 1/2 tsp. comino Seasonings can be adjusted to liking. Sear 2 pounds ground beef in large pan with chopped onions. Add tomato sauce and water. (Amounts of tomato sauce and water can be adjusted to liking.) Add seasonings. Cover pan and simmer for 30 minutes. (Longer for a spicier flavor.) Stir occasionally. Optional: Stir 1/2 cup flour into 1/2 cup lukewarm water and add to chili for thickening and let simmer for an additional 30 minutes. Optional: 1 (15 ounce) can pinto or similar beans. Optional: May be served over rice. |
