ITALIAN BAKED ROUND STEAK | |
Round steak, Minute steak or brazoli (1 inch thick) Garlic powder Salt and pepper Flour Shortening 1 can Hunt's tomato paste 1 1/2 c. water 1/2 tsp. salt 1/8 tsp. pepper 1 sm. bay leaf 1/4 tsp. thyme 1/4 tsp. sugar 1 lg. onion, sliced 1 green pepper, cut in long strips Cut steak into serving pieces. Trim fat off. Sprinkle with garlic powder, salt, pepper and flour. Pound flour into steak. Brown on both sides in hot shortening. When browned, place in casserole. Pour grease from browning pan and add Hunts paste, water and seasonings. Heat. Arrange onion and peppers over meat in casserole. Pour tomato mixture over all. Cover with tight fitting lid or foil. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 to 2 hours or until meat is fork tender. |
