PEANUT BUTTER OATMEAL BARS 
2/3 c. flour
1/4 tsp. baking soda
3 tbsp. shortening
1 tbsp. milk
1/4 c. quick rolled oats
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1/4 c. peanut butter
1 egg beaten
1/2 tsp vanilla

Stir together flour, sugar, baking soda and 1/8 tsp. salt, cut in peanut butter and shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Mix egg, milk and vanilla, add to flour mixture with oats. Mix well. Spread in lightly greased 8 x 8 x 2 baking pan.

Bake 375°F for 12 to 15 minutes. Cool and spread with peanut butter frosting. Cut into bars.

Peanut Butter Frosting:

3/4 c. sifted powdered sugar
1 tbsp. softened butter
1 tbsp. peanut butter.
2-3 tsp. milk

Combine sifted powdered sugar, softened butter and peanut butter. Blend in enough milk (2 to 3 tsp.) until frosting is of spreading consistency.
