PURE AND SIMPLE CHILI SOUP 
1 lb. hamburger
1 c. diced celery
1 c. diced onion
1 c. diced carrots
1/2 c. diced green pepper
1/2 c. diced red pepper
1 c. picante sauce
1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
3 (14 1/2 oz.) cans (or 6 c.) beef broth
3 beef bouillon cubes
1 tbsp. cumin seed
1 tbsp. chili powder
1/2 tbsp. paprika
1 (15 oz.) can pinto beans

GARNISH:

Diced green onions
Grated cheddar cheese
Sour cream

Put hamburger in a large kettle and brown. Break up by stirring. Pour off excess grease. Add diced celery, onion, carrots, green and red pepper. Saute until vegetables are soft. Add picante sauce, tomato paste, beef broth, beef bouillon cubes, cumin seed, chili powder, paprika and pinto beans. Simmer for 45 minutes. Serve. Garnish bowls with chopped green onion, sour cream and grated cheddar cheese.

Yield: 12.
