HAWAIIAN DATE BARS 
1 1/2 c. Quaker oats
1 1/2 c. flour
3/4 c. melted butter
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. sugar

Line sides and bottom of 9 inch square pan with half of above mixture.

FILLING:

1 (8 oz.) box dates
1/2 c. sugar
Pinch of salt
1/2 c. water
1 tsp. lemon juice and rind

Mix ingredients; cook in double boiler until smooth. Pour into crust. Sprinkle remaining crust on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 1/2 hour.
