STEVIE'S OATMEAL COOKIES 
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1 tbsp. water
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. rolled oats
1 1/2 c. raisins

Cream the shortening and sugar. Add egg, water and vanilla. Toast oatmeal in a shallow pan in the oven until lightly browned. Sift dry ingredients, add oatmeal and raisins and blend with the first mixture until the dry ingredients are moistened. Drop with a teaspoon on greased floured pans. Bake at 375 degrees for about 10 minutes. Yield: about 1 1/2 pounds.
