APPLE CRISP 
2 1/2 lbs. tart apples, pared, cored & sliced (about 8 c. sliced)
3/4 c. firmly packed light brown sugar
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
2 tsp. lemon juice
3/4 c. unsifted flour
6 tbsp. butter

1. Preheat oven to moderate, 375 degrees. Spray inside of 2 quart baking dish with non-stick vegetable cooking spray.

2. Combine apple slices, 6 tablespoons of the sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and lemon juice in prepared baking dish, stir gently to mix well.

3. Combine flour and the remaining 6 tablespoons sugar in small bowl. Cut in butter with pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture is crumbly. Sprinkle evenly over apples.

4. Bake in preheated moderate oven, 375 degrees, for 30 to 40 minutes or until apples are tender and top is browned. Serve warm or cold.
