BEST CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES 
2/3 c. shortening
2/3 c. butter
1 c. granulated sugar
1 c. brown sugar, packed
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
3 c. all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped nuts (optional)
1 pkg. milk chocolate chips

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Mix ingredients in order. Drop rounded teaspoonfuls of dough about 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes. Underbake just slightly for chewy cookies. Allow to cool 5 to 10 minutes before removing from cookie sheet.
