CHOCOLATE NUT CHEWS 
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. cocoa
1/2 c. evaporated milk
1/3 c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1/3 c. peanut butter
1 1/2 c. quick cooking oats (uncooked)
1/2 c. chopped pecans or walnuts

Combine sugar, cocoa, milk and butter in a heavy saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture reaches a slow boil (mixture will bubble around sides). Cook 2 additional minutes, stirring constantly.

Remove from heat; add peanut butter, stir until smooth. Stir in oats, pecans and vanilla. Drop mixture by tablespoonful onto waxed paper. Cool. Yield: about 4 1/2 dozen.
