PUMPKIN SPICE CAKE 
1 2/3 c. flour, sifted
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. ginger
1/4 tsp. cloves
1 c. brown sugar
1/3 c. shortening
1 c. canned pumpkin
1/2 c. water
1 egg
1/2 c. chopped pecans

Sift flour, soda, salt, and baking powder and spices into large bowl. Add sugar, shortening, pumpkin and water. Beat for 2 minutes at medium speed. Add egg, beat 2 minutes more. Add pecans and turn into greased and floured 9 inch square pan. Bake in 350 degree oven for 40 to 45 minutes. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
