BUTTERMILK COFFEE CAKE 
1 stick butter
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
4 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
2 c. buttermilk
1 c. walnuts

Cream butter and sugar; add eggs, one at a time, beating after each. Add vanilla. Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk. Beat until smooth. Fold in nuts. Put in 9 x 13 inch pan. Sprinkle with topping.

TOPPING:

5 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. sugar
2/3 c. flour

Mix with pastry blender to form crumbs. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes.
