1 c. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. butter

Mix all ingredients together and chill 3 to 4 hours or overnight. Roll onto floured board and cut with floured cutter. Sprinkle with additional sugar. Bake at 375 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes.
