4 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 c. oil
1 c. butter
1 c. granulated sugar
1 c. powdered sugar
2 egg
2 tsp. vanilla extract

Mix dry ingredients together and set aside. In large bowl, mix oil, butter and sugars. Beat in eggs and extract. Stir in dry ingredients. Chill dough for an hour to make it easier to handle. Form into balls or drop from spoon on baking sheet. Flatten with bottom of glass dipped in sugar.

Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
