2 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 c. white syrup 1/2 c. water Boil to soft ball stage. While this cooks, beat 2 egg whites until stiff. Slowly pour 1/2 of hot syrup over egg whites while beating. Continue to beat while returning the rest of the syrup to boil to crackle stage. Add to first mixture and continue to beat until a dry glaze is on top. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla, nuts and food coloring if desired. Drop by teaspoonful on greased, waxed paper. |
