WATERMELON PICKLES | |
1 gal. water 1 c. white vinegar 1/2 c. pickling salt 1/2 c. sugar Bring to a boil. Keep on stove and keep hot. On the bottom of jars put dill, 2 pieces of garlic, you can put a chili pepper too. I put in 1 slice of bell pepper. When that turns light they are done. Slice your peeled watermelon and put in jars. Pour hot water mixture over watermelon. Put jars in canner and heat to boiling. Let stand in hot water until they turn a lighter color. If you want them sharper you can add 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper in each jar. |
