VINETTA'S FRUIT CAKE COOKIES 
Combine in large bowl:

1 lb. chopped dates
1 lb. chopped candied pineapple
1/2 lb. chopped candied cherries
1 lb. raisins, red, green or mixed
4 c. chopped pecans

Make batter as follows. Cream:

1 c. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs

Add 2 1/2 cups flour mixed with:

1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon

Mix well and add to the fruit mixture (mix with your hands, that's the secret!!) until well blended. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. cool slightly and remove to wire racks. Drop by teaspoons onto greased cookie sheet. They may look slightly under cooked, but that's okay. Ovens vary so experiment to see what is right for your oven. Makes about 122 cookies. Excellent recipe for Christmas!
