TEA TIME DATE BARS 
Pour 1/3 cup boiling water over 2 cups chopped dates. Cool. Combine:

1/2 c. spry
1 c. sugar
3/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
2 unbeaten eggs

Sift together:

1 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. baking soda

Set aside.

Add date mixture and blend. Add dry ingredients and blend well. Add 1/2 cup chopped nuts and blend. Spread mixture in 10 x 10 x 2 inch greased pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes. Cool in pan. Cut into bars. Sprinkle powdered sugar over top. Store in covered container.
