PLAIN OR CHOCOLATE POUND CAKE 
3 level c. sugar
3 heaping c. plain flour
1 c. butter
1/2 c. Crisco
6-7 lg. eggs
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. almond or lemon flavoring
1 tsp. baking powder

Cream butter and Crisco until light and fluffy. Add sugar and beat well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Sift flour and baking powder together. Add milk and flour alternately. Beat well. Add flavorings. Pour in tube pan, sprayed with Pam. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until cake leaves edge of pan.

To make Chocolate Cake, substitute 1/2 cup cocoa for 1/2 cup flour (1/2 cup cocoa and 2 1/2 cup flour).
