PLAIN VANILLA POUND CAKE 
3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
4 eggs, separated
3 tsp. baking powder
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. vanilla (or a little more)
1 cup milk

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Cream butter and sugar. Add egg yolks. Mix flour and baking powder together and add alternately with milk and vanilla. Beat egg whites and fold in.

Bake in tube (not Bundt) pan at 350°F for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
