SPLIT PEA SOUP 
1 (12 oz.) pkg. split peas (green or yellow)
1 ham hock or
3 boneless country ribs
1 stalk celery, diced
1 med. onion, diced
1 med. turnip, diced
1 carrot, diced
4 c. water

Soak peas overnight, drain. Place all ingredients in crock pot or other large pot. Bring to boil, turn on low heat for 2 hours or simmer low all day. Season to taste.
