EASY HAMBURGER CHOWDER 
1/2 - 1 lb. ground meat
1 tbsp. oil
4 carrots (2 c.) sliced
1 lg. onion, chopped
2 c. chopped celery
2 lbs. cabbage, chopped
1/2 green pepper, chopped
2 (1 lb.) cans tomatoes
5 c. water
3 beef bouillon cubes
1/2 c. uncooked rice or I use Rosa Marina
3 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper
1 bay leaf

Saute meat in hot oil in a Dutch oven or large pot until brown. Add remaining ingredients.

Bring to boil; lower heat, cover and simmer until vegetables are tender (about 45 minutes). Remove bay leaf before serving.

This is very good on a cold winters day, with fresh bread out of the oven. Everyone likes when I make this.
