GINGER SNAPS 
3/4 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1/4 c. molasses
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. flour, sifted
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cloves

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease cookie sheets. Cream shortening and sugar together. Add egg and beat well. Add molasses and salt. Combine the dry ingredients and add to the mixture. Chill at least one hour. Form into small balls about the size of a melon ball and roll in granulated sugar. Bake 15 minutes or until done. Makes about 5 dozen cookies.
