POUND CAKE 
3 c. all-purpose flour
3 c. sugar
1/2 lb. (2 sticks) butter
5 eggs
2 tsp. flavoring (any flavor)
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. milk

Cream butter and sugar at low speed. Then add eggs, one at a time. Sift flour 3 times; add milk and flour alternately; starting and ending with flour. Add flavoring. Pour batter into greased and floured loaf pan. Start in cold oven; bake 1 hour and 45 minutes at 325°F. Don't open door until done.
