$BOILED DINNER$ 
1 good size smoked Virginia ham
1 bunch carrots
Few boiling onions
1 sm. head cabbage
1 sm. turnip
Bunch of sm. potatoes, red or white
Lg. kettle

Poke ham all over with garlic cloves. Put in kettle first, then add water and pepper. Water should almost cover ham. Put on high heat to get it boiling, then turn down. Let it simmer until almost falling apart, then add your carrots and onions. Five minutes later add turnip slices, then small potatoes. Last add the cabbage wedges. Cook until vegetables are tender.
