1/2 c. shortening (part butter)
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. allspice
3/4 c. chopped dates
1 c. chopped nuts
1 1/2 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. cocoa
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. unsweetened applesauce
3/4 c. cut up raisins

Mix shortening, sugar and eggs. Add spices, baking soda and flour. Add raisins, applesauce, dates and mix thoroughly. Pour batter into well greased and floured cake pan. Bake at 325 degrees for about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
