1 lb. bag unpopped popcorn 2 tbsp. baking soda Place in slow cooker. Cover with water. Cook on high about 6 hours. Add water as needed. Test corn for hulling. That is rub a few grains between hands testing whether the hulls come off. If not cook another hour. Corn can be hulled by cooling in large pan and rubbing between hands. This is the only work involved and the corn is beautiful. Add water, return corn to cooker (discard all hulls). Cook in slow cooker 2 more hours or until done. To eat, drain corn, put in skillet to which about 1/3 cup oil has been added. Cook stirring about 15 minutes. Add 1 tablespoon sugar, dash of salt and pepper. Adjust sugar, salt, pepper to suit your taste. |
