PECAN APPLESAUCE CAKE 
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. honey
1 egg
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
3/4 c. seedless raisins
1 c. chopped pecans
1/2 c. chopped dates
1 c. unsweetened applesauce

Cream shortening and honey until light and fluffy. Add egg. Beat hard. Add cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon and vanilla. Sift 1 3/4 cups flour, with salt, baking soda and baking powder. Mix raisins, dates and pecans with 1/4 cup flour. Add sifted dry ingredients to spiced mixture alternately with applesauce. Beat until smooth and well blended. Stir in floured nuts, raisins and dates.

Pour batter into greased tube pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Turn out and cool on rack.
