1 c. applesauce
1 c. sugar
1 c. flour
1/2 c. nuts, pecans or black walnuts
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. dates

Cream sugar and butter. Mix together flour, soda, nuts, dates, spices, and creamed butter mixture. Add applesauce. Blend well. In rectangular pan, bake in moderate oven until cake tests done.
