CAROLINA POUND CAKE 
1 c. butter
1 3/4 c. sugar, sifted 3 times
5 eggs
2 c. cake flour, sifted 3 times
Dash of salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. lemon juice
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
Few cherries

Cream butter, add sugar and eggs one at a time, beating well after each egg. Add flour, salt and vanilla; beat 5 minutes. Add 1 teaspoon lemon juice.

Grease tube pan. Put walnuts and cherries on bottom. Pour batter on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
