1, 2, 3, 4 CAKE 
1 c. Crisco or 2 sticks real butter (Marion uses butter)
2 c. granulated sugar
3 c. plain flour (sift 3 times)
2 tsp. Calumet Baking Powder
4 lg. eggs
1 c. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla

In mixer place Crisco or butter, and sugar; mix on low speed until light and fluffy. Sift 3 cups plain flour, add 2 teaspoons baking powder and sift two more times. Add 1 cup of flour to mixer. Add 4 large eggs, one at a time to mixer. Add 1 more cup of sifted flour. Add 1 cup of milk with 1/2 teaspoon vanilla to mixer. Add the last cup of flour. Mix quickly on low speed all the way. Grease and flour cake pan or pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes for 2 or 3 (9") cake pans; bake 45 minutes for 1 large baking pan; bake 25 minutes for 2 dozen cup cakes.
