CHALUPES 
1 c. chopped onion
2 tbsp. butter or salad oil
1 lb. hamburger meat
2 tbsp. flour
3 tbsp. chili powder
1 c. water
1 1/2 c. tomato soup
1 1/2 c. light cream
Salt to taste
12 tortillas
1 1/2 c. grated American cheese
Tortillas

Saute half the onions until soft. Add hamburger meat and cook until brown. Add the flour and chili powder and cook 5 minutes more. Add water. Cover and simmer until thick. Mix soup, cream and the rest of the raw onion and salt. Add this to the meat mixture.

Cut tortillas in strips and place in a shallow long casserole dish that has been sprayed with Pam. Alternate layers of the meat and cheese mixture until the casserole is filled, ending with cheese on top. Bake at 325 degrees until hot and slightly browned. Serves 6-8.
