DEEP DISH APPLE COBBLER | |
CRUMB MIX: 1 pkg. deluxe yellow cake mix 3/4 c. butter, melted 1 c. quick cooking oats 1 c. chopped walnuts or pecans FILLING: 6 apples, pared, cored and sliced 1/2 c. water 1/2 c. raisins 3 tbsp. sugar 2 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. nutmeg Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine cake mix, butter, oats and nuts in a large bowl. Stir until well mixed. Press 2 1/2 packed cups of mix in bottom of an ungreased 13x9x2 inch pan. Reserve remaining mix. Combine apples, raisins, water, sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg in medium saucepan. Cook over low heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Spread cooked filling evenly over layer in pan. Sprinkle reserved crumb mixture evenly over filling. Bake for 25 minutes or until topping is browned. Cool for 10 minutes before serving. (Can serve with vanilla ice cream.) |
