DATE PUDDING 
1 c. chopped dates
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. butter
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. sugar
1 c. flour
1/4 c. nuts
1 c. boiling water

Pour boiling water over dates, butter and soda. Add salt and vanilla. Sift sugar and flour together. Add to above ingredients. Stir in nuts. Bake in moderate oven for 25 to 30 minutes.
