JEFF DAVIS PIE 
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
2 tbsp. flour
1/4 c. milk
3 egg yolks
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. plum or damson preserves

Beat egg yolks. Add sugar, the flour, then mix butter and milk, also flavoring. Roll out the crust and put in the pie tin. Spread with the preserves and pour over the custard mixture. Bake in slow oven. When done, cover with meringue and brown.
