RED WALDORF ASTORIA CAKE 
1 tsp. vinegar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 c. white sugar
1/2 c. Crisco
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 oz. bottle red food color
2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. cocoa
1 c. milk

Combine vinegar and baking soda; set aside. Cream together white sugar and Crisco. Then add ingredients as given. Beat all together and mix. Fold in vinegar mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Cut in half.

Serves 16.

FROSTING FOR RED CAKE:

2 c. milk
4 tbsp. cornstarch
1 c. Crisco
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. almond extract

Heat milk, then thicken with cornstarch; let cool. Cream Crisco, butter, sugar. Add vanilla and almond. Then mix all together. Beat exactly 7 minutes. You will have 4 halves of cake. Frost each. 16 servings.
