WALDORF ASTORIA CAKE 
4 (1/2 oz.) bottle red cake coloring
3 tbsp. Nestles milk chocolate cocoa
1/2 c. Crisco
1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. buttermilk
2 1/2 c. cake flour (sifted 3 times)
Scant tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. vinegar
1 tsp. baking soda

In one bowl, put food coloring and cocoa. Let stand. Cream Crisco and sugar, then add eggs and paste from coloring and cocoa. Add buttermilk. Blend. Add flour, salt and vanilla. By hand, mix in 1 tablespoon vinegar and soda. Mix well. Pour into 2 (9 inch) cake pans or large pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes.
