Sheila, thank you so much for putting this perfect simple recipe on line. This is the exact soup my mom used to make for me and I was trying to make it from memory (I'm not a great cook) and I didn't know how to start. I saw all these super creamy thick recipes with too many ingredients online and was SO HAPPY to find yours! :D

This recipe is wonderful! My mom made this for me earlier this year when I had strep throat. The only thing different is that she used frozen shredded hash browns instead of regular diced potatoes. The result was the same and it was excellent.

This is the way that I have always made Potato Soup, but I add a can of corn to it,and prefer to dunk bread rather then to use crackers.

I liked the recipe but after I added the milk it tasted real milky so I added 2 chicken broth squares and just a bit of garlic powder and parsley and now it tastes super!

This is almost exactly like my mother's! To thicken it, she takes a potato masher and mashes just a few of the potatoes. It's so simple and delicious!

Delicious!!! I boiled the potatoes carrots and onion in 2 cans of chicken broth with 1 cup of water. When the vegetables were done I drained 1/2 the liquid, mashed some of the potatoes, added a can of corn and whisked in 1 cup of heavy cream. I then added, like some others suggested, potato flakes. Great idea people it was so good!!! Thank you!!!

You must have crumbles of bacon, chives, and cheddar cheese for garnish. Also use the pan you cook the bacon To fry some onion and garlic in the pan with butter before you start the soup.
