GINGER BEEF 
2 onions, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
4 tsp. powdered ginger
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/4 lbs. flank steak or chuck roast, cut in strips
1/2 c. vegetable oil
1 c. canned tomatoes, drained
1 can condensed onion soup
Hot cooked rice

Combine the onions, garlic, turmeric, ginger, and salt with the beef and let stand for 1 hour. Heat the oil in a heavy pan and saute the beef mixture. Add to tomatoes and onion soup.

Cover and simmer 1 1/2 to 2 hours, adding a little water if the mixture seems too dry. Serve with hot rice.
