MOM-MOM'S IRISH BREAD | |
4 c. flour 1 tsp. baking soda 2 tsp. salt 2 tbsp. caraway seeds 1/2 pkg. raisins 2 1/2 to 3 c. buttermilk Plump raisins in hot water for a few minutes. Squeeze dry. Sift flour, soda, salt, and sugar; add caraway seeds and raisins and mix. Make hole in center of mix and pour in buttermilk a little at a time and mix. Knead until smooth and elastic. Place in 10 inch greased black fry pan (or any fry pan) - (or 2 greased coffee cans). Bake at 350 degrees (preheat) for 1 1/4 hours. Remove from oven and glaze with tablespoon sugar and 1/4 cup milk mix. |
