FINGER CAKE

3 pkg. lady fingers
3 pkg. Baker's German chocolate (melt over hot water)
6 egg yolks & 6 egg whites
4 tbsp. water
4 tbsp. sugar

Put water in eggs and beat. Add sugar, then add to melted chocolate. Cook until thickened, about 5 minutes, no longer. Let cool. Beat 6 egg whites until stiff. Add the cooled chocolate, slowly folding in.

Place lady fingers, split in half, around sides of 9 inch springform pan then cover the bottom of pan next. Stand the side ones up straight. Add a little chocolate to cover the lady fingers on the bottom. Alternate lady fingers with pudding mixture. End with chocolate. Top with 1 pint heavy whipped cream.

I don't know who submitted this recipe. My grandmother (Ruth) made these for us in the early 60s. I've been looking for it forever! To find it titled Aunt Ruth's Chocolate Lady Finger Cake makes the find that much more meaningful.
