PENNSYLVANIA DUTCH MOLASSES
CRUMB PIE
 
1 c. molasses
2 c. boiling water
1 egg
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. brown sugar

CRUMBS:

2 c. flour
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 tsp. baking soda
Pinch of salt

Beat egg slightly; add dry ingredients and then stir in molasses and boiling water. Put in refrigerator and chill while making pie crust and crumbs. Mix dry ingredients and shortening into fine crumbs. Alternate crumbs and liquid in unbaked pie shell, starting and ending with crumbs. Bake in 375 degree oven for 35 minutes. Makes two deep 9 inch pies.
