1 c. granulated sugar
2 eggs
3/4 c. lard
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 c. oats
1 3/4 c. flour
1 1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 c. boiling water

Mix granulated sugar, eggs, lard and cinnamon. Stir in oats and flour. Put soda in boiling water and stir; then add this to other mixture. Pour in greased square pans.

ICING:

1 c. brown sugar
2/3 c. milk
Butter size of walnut
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. sifted powdered sugar

Boil good. Remove from heat. Add vanilla, sifted powdered sugar and beat well. Spread on cake.
