ALICE'S FRENCH ONION SOUP 
3 c. sliced onions
2 tbsp. butter
4 c. beef consomme
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
2 slices French bread, toasted
Grated Parmesan cheese or Mozzarella

In large saucepan, cook onions in butter over low heat for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add consomme and Worcestershire sauce. Heat to boiling, reduce heat and simmer about 30 minutes. Place 1/2 slice toasted bread in each of 4 soup bowls. Pour hot soup over bread. Sprinkle with cheese. You may use Mozzarella and melt under broiler.
