ANISE CANDY 
Kids love this!

2 c. water
1 c. white Karo syrup
1 c. water
2 tsp. anise oil
food coloring

Boil until hard crack stage (300°F on candy thermometer). Anise oil should be added after cooking. Then add red or green food coloring, if desired. Place in an 8-inch buttered pan.

Note: Use of a candy thermometer is recommended.
