HOUR AND A HALF ROLLS | |
5 1/4 - 5 3/4 c. flour 1/2 c. warm water 2 pkgs. dry yeast 1 1/2 c. lukewarm milk 3 tbsp. sugar 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 c. shortening Spoon flour into dry measuring cup. Level off and pour onto waxed paper. Soak yeast in 1/2 cup warm water 5 minutes. Stir to dissolve. Combine milk, sugar and salt in large bowl. Beat in shortening, yeast mix and 2 cups flour with rotary beater until smooth. Add remaining flour. Mix until dough leaves sides of bowl. Turn onto lightly floured board. Knead until dough becomes smooth and no longer sticky. Place in lightly greased bowl. Cover. Let rise until double. Punch down and shape into rolls. Place on well greased baking sheet. Let rise until doubled. Bake at 425 degrees 12-15 minutes. Makes 3 dozen rolls. Belvidere Happy-Go-Luckies Red Wing |
