YELLOW BUTTERMILK CAKE 
1 c. butter
3 c. sugar
1 c. buttermilk
1/3 tsp. baking soda
3 c. flour
6 eggs

Cream butter and sugar; add egg yolks. Put 1/2 cup buttermilk in double boiler, cook until milk looks watery. Remove and add soda while hot. Add to butter and sugar mixture. Alternate rest of milk and flour into mixture. Beat egg whites and fold in. Bake at 375 degrees in tube pan for 1 hour.
