BAKLAVA 
1 pkg. fillo dough
1 lb. butter, melted
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. allspice
1 lb. walnuts, chopped very fine
1/2 lb. almonds, chopped very fine

Use a 13 x 11 1/2 inch pan, also called jelly roll pan. Combine nuts, 1 cup sugar, cinnamon and allspice for filling.

Layer 7 sheets of fillo in bottom of pan, buttering each layer. Spread filling - layer 5 sheets of fillo, then filling, until all ingredients are used, ending with fillo. Slice on diagonal before baking. Bake in 325 degree oven until golden brown about 45 minutes.

SYRUP:

2 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. water

Bring to a boil and simmer 15 minutes. Pour hot syrup over hot baklava.
